Westleigh Homes is encouraging the UK’s servicemen and women in Lincolnshire to take advantage of the exclusive Help to Buy package on offer to them, after it was announced the government-backed scheme would be extended until 2018.
Humberston Meadows in North Lincolnshire, a collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, is one of seven Westleigh sites across the region with homes available through the scheme.
The Armed Forces Help to Buy scheme, launched in 2014, enables serving personnel to borrow up to 50% of their salary interest-free, to use towards a deposit and other costs such as solicitors’ and estate agents’ fees.
This scheme is open to all regular service personnel who have been accepted onto trained strength and have completed at least two years of service, have more than six months left to serve at the time they apply and meet certain medical conditions. The home purchased must be for themselves and / or their immediate family to live in.
Servicemen and women can apply for an Armed Forces Help to Buy loan online, through the Joint Personnel Administration system.
Westleigh says the scheme is vitally important in offering Armed Forces personnel the flexibility and financial security they need to take their first step onto the property ladder.
Robert Orr, Westleigh’s Sales and Marketing Manager, said: “We are pleased that this Armed Forces Help to Buy scheme will continue to be available until 2018, as it has made the dream of home ownership a reality for thousands of our servicemen, servicewomen and their families.
“Home ownership rates among our Armed Forces have always been low, because relocation within the UK and deployments overseas have made it difficult for them to put down roots. It will require a concerted effort from the government and the housing industry to change that, which is why our on-site consultants are always happy to sit down with service personnel who want to own their home and talk through their options with them.
“A number of our developments are conveniently located for specific bases and installations. For instance, our Humberston Meadows development in North Lincolnshire is only an hour’s commute from RAF Waddington, one of the UK’s largest RAF bases, and is a similar distance from RAF Scampton, the home of the Red Arrows. It offers an impressive range of properties to suit all lifestyles and budgets.
“We’d encourage any service personnel looking to make their next move to stop by at a Westleigh development of their choice and speak to our friendly consultants for advice on the help available to them.”
