Young couple first to move in to Wigston development


Young couple Fleur Kingsley-Mills and Josh Curtis are the first to move into a new house at our in-demand Thornhill Fields development on the outskirts of Wigston, thanks to the Help to Buy scheme.

Fleur, 22, an Auditor from Glen Parva, and Josh, 23, a Plumber from Countesthorpe, were keen to buy a home together after living separately with parents, and the three-bedroom Bryce at Thornhill Fields has proved to be the perfect place for them to call home.

“After going on Westleigh’s website, we discovered Thornhill Fields and made the decision to go and take a look.

“When we saw the Bryce, we knew it was what we really wanted. Not only was it affordable for us, it has the right amount of space that we were looking for and the garden is a really nice size as well. All in all, it’s just perfect.

“Buying a new-build property really appealed to us as the thought of moving into an old house and having to spend lots of effort and money on doing it was awful, so it’s so nice to come into a house that’s untouched.

“The development is also really well-located for Leicester whilst maintaining a rural feel, and we have lovely views of the surrounding fields from our house.”

In order to secure the Bryce, Fleur and Josh used the Help to Buy: Equity Loan, which enables first-time buyers and those with a property to sell to make a move to a brand new home with an equity loan of up to 20% of the full price of the property with the Government with just a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The equity loan is interest free for the first five years.

Fleur continues: “The process of using Help to Buy was really smooth and straightforward for us.

“The scheme was essential to us in securing the house, as it allowed us to only pay a 5% deposit, which really does make a big difference.

“We also would have struggled to secure a mortgage for the full price of the house had we not used Help to Buy. I think that getting on the property ladder can be difficult for lots of people my age, so the scheme is a really good stepping stone to get you there.

“Also, the Sales Executives, Paul and Zehra, were really helpful and approachable, and put us in touch with an independent mortgage broker, who made everything a lot easier.

“I’d definitely recommend Help to Buy to anyone hoping to purchase a new home but who feels it’s impossible to do so, because it’s really not!”

The couple have now moved in to their new home at Thornhill Fields, and are over the moon to be the first to complete on their purchase there.

“It’s really exciting to be the first people to complete on their home at the development. Both mine and Josh’s families have come to look at the house and everyone loves it, especially my mum!

“What we’re most looking forward to is having a lot more space to grow and seeing what the future holds.

“People have told me before that buying a new house can be a really stressful process, but I’ve not found that to be the case at all. Everything has been so positive and has gone so smoothly that we just couldn’t be happier with our new home.”
