Work has commenced on 72 new affordable homes in the North Warwickshire village of Hartshill.
Leading developer Westleigh will provide a mix of two-bedroom flats and two and three and four-bedroom houses for affordable rent and shared ownership.
The housing is being provided through a partnership with Waterloo Housing Group and North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC).
The village of Hartshill offers a range of amenities including primary and secondary schools, a doctors surgery, shops, bars and a public library, with Nuneaton town centre only four miles away.
Gino Siani, Westleigh’s Head of New Business for the West Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be working with our development partners to bring these much-needed affordable homes to North Warwickshire.
“This development will offer an opportunity to get onto the property ladder for local people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to secure a mortgage, as well as providing more manageable tenancy options for those who require them.
“These homes will help to address the shortage of affordable housing locally and this project forms part of our plans to provide affordable housing to the communities that need them across Warwickshire, and the West Midlands more widely.”
Anthony Riley, Group Director of Development and Operations for Waterloo Housing Group, said “Waterloo is pleased to be working with its long standing partners, North Warwickshire Borough Council and Westleigh, to provide these new homes for people within the borough, both for rent from the council’s housing register and for those people looking for a shared ownership home.
In addition to our internal resources, we are also using our own Homes England allocation in providing a Social Housing Grant of £1.85m to ensure the scheme’s success. This development will result in Waterloo owning over 5,700 homes in the North Warwickshire area.”
Westleigh is part of the Homes England Delivery Partner Panel and works closely together with housing associations to build affordable new homes throughout the East and West Midlands, Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire. The developer was recently granted over £48m of Homes England funding to bring almost 1,600 new homes to these regions. For further information visit www.westleigh.co.uk.
